John Donovan, a 24-year veteran of American and Asian technical journalism, takes the magazine's helm.
"I'm excited to take the editorial reins at Portable Design, which I've read and admired for many years," said Mr. Donovan, himself a member of IEEE and ACM. "It's the only publication focused exclusively on the fastest growing segment of the electronics market- and, from the designer's point of view, one of the most challenging.
"I look forward to the opportunity to build upon the magazine's excellent reputation among design engineers and engineering managers to further serve the needs of the design community."
Portable Design, a magazine for engineers and their managers, focuses on product design, component selection, manufacturing, and other issues that pertain to mobile technologies. Portable Design is part of Tulsa-based PennWell Corporation.
