A partnership with Global Care Quest lets Sprint deliver real-time medical information securely to intensive-care physicians via their mobile device.
Sprint announced the Integrated Clinical Information System Mobile (ICIS Mobile) solution at San Diego's 2006 HIMSS Annual Conference, an event that focuses on information and management systems.
Certain Sprint handhelds and smart phones will support the application, which intensivists can use to retrieve information about a patient across an EV-DO wireless network.
Sprint discussed the service further in a statement from the conference:
The significant feature of the new offering moves the availability of patient data beyond a hospital's network. An intensivist can be anywhere on Sprint's network where EV-DO service exists and see the patient data.
"Information is presented in a series of clinical windows that include diagnostic images, real-time vital signs, lab results, trend data, patient demographic data, live video feeds, clinical notes, rounding lists and remote bedside monitoring," Sprint said.
